20 Years of SC/ST (POA) Act 1989
The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 has completed 20 years. There has been more discussion on the misuse of the Act rather than on its actual implementation. HRF feels that there is a need to look into the actual implementation of the Act before forming any opinion. HRF is also going to organize meetings throughout 2010 to press for better implementation of the Act.

This Pamphlet brings to the fore the issues and violations with regard to the Krishnapatnam Ultra Mega Thermal Plant being constructed at Nellore and rings the alarm bell on the future of the fisher folk of Krishnapatnam. The leaflet also questions as to why there is so much of haste when it comes to clearance and implementation of projects, which is never the case when it comes to issues of prior consultative resettlement and rehabilitation plans of the displaced.
